A Christmas Poem, By: Ed Peck, Vinita, OK
The holiday’s upon us - With wreaths and Christmas tree
A time for friends and family - A season filled with glee
The dinner’s on the table - With our best we all are set
To celebrate with all our heart - But let us not forget
That who it is we feature - In all we say and do
It’s Jesus Christ our Savior - Who came for me and you
He left His throne in glory - And counted it but naught
And came and dwelt amongst us - He healed and He taught
He was born of lowly station - Some two thousand years now past
But He brought to us His Kingdom - Which throughout eternity will last
Now as a child, Jesus - I’m sure He had His fun
With other growing children – He would laugh and play and run
But as a child, Jesus – Into His Father grew
So at the age of twelve – they were amazed at what He knew
Jesus grew in wisdom – And stature as a man
And when His life reached thirty – He fulfilled His Father’s plan
He traveled through Judea – And in Galilee He taught
He always did His miracles – God’s Kingdom’s what He brought
He healed lame and blind – He fed the multitudes
He turned water into wine – And taught beatitudes
He was baptized in the Jordan – Where descended there the dove
And brought the law’s fulfillment – By giving Godly love
He rebuked with Godly ferver – The errors He did see
And stirred up jealous hatred – From Scribe and Pharisee
They took Him before Pilate – This king of low estate
Then unto the High Priest – To determine some cruel, cruel fate
Their anger burned against Him – They beat Him with great scorn
They hung Him on a rugged cross – and placed a crown of thorn
And there upon that cross – As He breathed His last breath
They thought with great mistake – They’d achieved His final death
But little did they know – Through scales could not see
That Jesus died upon that cross – To set the captives free
He shed His blood and took such pain – For the likes of you and me
He became the perfect sacrifice – And changed man’s destiny
They placed Him in a grave – Placed a guard there for protection
He arose and rolled the stone away – Awesome POWER OF RESSURRECTION
He’s ascended into glory – and sit’s at God’s right hand
And shares with us His glory – So in His presence stand
And realize at Christmas – It’s not for gifts or toys or tree
But the ever loving Father – Whose son has set us free
And fulfill the great command – Love God with all your all
And love your every neighbor – Whom He’s ransomed from the fall
So at the Christmas season – Then all of the year through
Give out the love that Jesus gave – To you and you and you
